History & Focus

Centre for Assistance and All-round Development is started by a group of young men with a vision to do some social good for the poor and downtrodden. After working for a couple of years it was felt that the organization should get a legal status to make the effort more effective. Thus the organization was registered as a voluntary organization under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Act of XXI) and other legal sanctions in the year 2000-2001. Since then Centre for Assistance and All Round Development is working hard to achieve the objectives of the organization i.e. to work for the poorest of the poor and the weaker section. Centre for Assistance and All Round Development (CAAD) as a premier institution is engaged in Cultural- Economic- Educational- Social development, people-centered, culturally sensitive and ecologically balanced sustainable development of poor and marginalized people activities in Odisha since more than ten years. The organization has been working with the tribal, scheduled castes and other under privileged groups of the society in the state of Odisha over a period of two decades. Illiteracy, ignorance, exploitation, bondage and money lending has marginalized the rural poor down the countries. Gradual alienation of their rights over common property resources, appropriation of the development benefits by the vested interests has pushed them to virtual subsistence level. It has worked in the following districts Jajpur, Keojhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Cuttack through various developmental interventions. CAAD is among Odisha's most well-known and reputed NGOs. CAAD has attempted to work with people in this backward region to empower them tangibly and intangibly with the education, health, livelihood means, rights, skills and opportunities necessary to counter their exploitation and to sustainable manage their natural resource base. This resource base, mostly comprising forested hill slopes in a semi-arid region, is the tribal mainstay. CAAD has had a significant history in enabling them to regenerate and conserve it while also utilizing it for creating agriculture-based livelihoods in innovative ways that both conserve cultural and biological diversity as well as create sustainable avenues for socio-economic emancipation.
